February opportunities with Texas Legislature

Join us in person for one or both sessions of Speak Up! Legislative Advocacy Training. You'll learn the most effective ways to advocate for the issues you care about this Legislative Session, including how to reach out to your representatives, how to testify at committee hearings, and other ways to get involved. In both sessions (2/18/23 and 2/25/23), we'll cover the basics of how the Legislature operates and how to make your voice heard. In Session 1 (2/18/23), we'll also talk about gun violence prevention, LGBTQIA+ rights, criminal justice reform, preemption and local control, and voting rights. In Session 2 (2/25/23), we'll also talk about labor and workers' rights, abortion and reproductive justice, public education and educators, equity in healthcare and food access, and advocating for your community. Guest speakers include advocates in all these issue areas, as well as legislators and staff members with years of experience at the Lege.
