NETCo Dems News

Info for candidates and NETCo Dems members in good standing: Attached is our revised draft (v8) plan for elections to endorse Democratic candidates for the 2026 Primary Election and for choosing club officers (President, Vice President, and Secretary) this January. Comments are welcome to the address in the document.

The Executive Committee, Northeast Travis County Democrats, recommends the membership in good standing in person at the regular November 15th, 2025 meeting approve the a change to the NETCo Dems Bylaws, Article VI, first paragraph to reduce the required supermajority for endorsement of a candidate or issue from 65% to 60%.

To be endorsed for a primary or primary runoff contest, a candidate must meet two tests: (1) be in first place in the vote among candidates for that contest (via ranked-choice instant-runoff voting or preference voting) and (2) have been ranked by a supermajority or more of the voters casting votes in that contest. The supermajority threshold is currently 65%; the amendment will change that to 60%.

Full text of the recommendation can be found in the attached one-page document.

To be a member in good standing and authorized to vote, one must have joined and paid current dues not later than November 3rd, 2025. To repair membership status go to https://secure.actblue.com/donate/netcomem.
