This is Brian Peña, President of University Democrats , TX Democratic Party Executive Committee Member, TCDP precinct chair, and delegate to Democratic National Convention.
I am committed to being a voice for Travis/Williamson county in Chicago.
President Biden has made a courageous decision and chosen to step aside as our party’s nominee. I thank him for one of the most successful terms in American history.
I know this is not a decision everyone wanted or expected, but I have confidence in our party’s ability to rally around our new nominee.
Unfortunately, there is still some uncertainty to be settled. President Biden has endorsed Vice-President Harris, but an open convention is still ahead. Over the coming weeks we may see several prominent democrats announce their candidacy. This could be coupled with even more candidates for vice-president.
While I personally believe Vice-President Harris is the best equipped to take on Donald Trump, I will respect the will of Travis/Williamson county democrats and vote for who they believe is the strongest possible ticket in November.
